OWLS & OTHERS FROM THE NORTH SHORE OF MASSACHUSETTS AND ELSEWHERE ACROSS THE USA

I'm an avid birder and nature photographer wishing to share some of my sightings & images taken while out in the "wilds" of Cape Ann and surrounding New England countryside. More images can be found on my web site at New England Birds Plus Enjoy, Phil Brown

Those Pesty Owls - Feb. 05, 2011

An early morning drive found one of the Corliss Brother's Screech Owls catching a bit of sun. It wasn't long before a flock of birds came along and chased it into it's hole with some needing a closer look than others.

A Chickadee & Downy Woodpecker having a look.

A Blue Jay putting in it's two cents.

A Titmouse that apparently wasn't certain of what it saw...

and needed a closer look!

I stopped by an hour or so later and found both owls sitting out. I'm guessing this is a mated pair as they're tolerating each other at such close range, approximately 100' between the trees.

  1. Phil - what a delightful "story" and the pictures to go with it. I must say I thoroughly enjoy this site and recommend it to those I know who love birds. Thanks for taking us all on your bird tours.
